LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

It’s our 4th annual IronMax 3D competition, The reason it is on the 3rd is in celebration of 3December (http://area.autodesk.com/3dec2012).

Four teams will battle to the death in order to with the crown!… or other sweet prizes.
And by “to the death” I mean that they will have 2 hours to model and render a top secret scene.

We will start promptly at 6:30 in order to give our teams optimal modeling, texturing and rendering time. So, get there on time to see the kick off.

7:45: Presentation #2: Jordyn Peterson of Neoscape will be showing some super awesome plug-ins that will make your life easier. These will help you make a staircase in one easy minute or make a fence that goes on for miles on uneven terrain, plus more. The best part is that they are free! She will show you where you can get them and how to use them efficiently.

6:45: Presentation #1: UDK: Architectural visualization is increasingly moving towards a more interactive format. A part of this is the push towards clients being able to walk through and interact with the environment. The Unreal Development Kit has been instrumental in developing the next generation of vis projects.
This presentation will explore this process from starting with a final result, as well as going through some workflow issues.

AAUGA Meeting – Thursday, 16 August 2012

Special Guest: Steven Roselle, games industry focused Solutions Specialist at Autodesk, who has worked closely with a wide array of game developers using Maya, MotionBuilder and Mudbox for game content creation. This involves software customization, workflow development and pipeline integration, as well as working as a liaison between game developers and the Maya product development team. Some of the game companies Steven has worked with include EA, Microsoft, SOE, Activision and Nintendo.

Digital Heroes is a multicity tour – weaving across the country to meet and talk 3D with artists that span the gamut of industries, including Architectural Visualization, Gaming and Special FX.

February’s AAUGA Meeting will focus on a couple of techniques for 3dsmax as well as one plugin.  The first presentation will focus on fast techniques to integrate photorealistic backplates into architectual renderings.  The second presentation will focus on how to use advanced modifier stacks in 3dsmax to model procedural architectural objects.  Finally, we’ll wrap up February’s meeting with a look at Itoo Software’s Forest Pack Pro, and how this plugin was utilized in the creation of Neoscape’s NSQ fall cover image.

Time to ring in the New Year for AAUGA!  January’s meeting will be a bombastic amalgamation of production tips, tricks and techniques!  The first presentation will focus on the process of combining multiple animated meshes in 3Ds Max.  The second presentation will focus on the production techniques used to generate Neoscape’s Holiday Card.  The third presentation will describe how to use a Autodesk’s free 3D CAD software 123D to generate 3D assets.
